I love the Crab and Lobster for wedding photography.
My clients LOVE Crab Manor for their wedding celebrations, so we can't really go wrong!

This was the tenth wedding I have photographed at this quirky wedding venue in North Yorkshire (you can see some images from the other ones here on my Pinterest page), and despite torrential rain across much of the day, Emily and Richard and their closest family and friends has a great day of wedding celebrations!
I knew Emily's Mum Elizabeth when she was at school with my sister, and over a year ago I photographed Emily and Richie when she was 8 months pregnant with their twins. We hit it off really well, she loved the photographs and other friends of hers had used my talents at their weddings too, so really, we were born to be together on their wedding day!
I arrived in good time and the overcast weather had locked in the heat so it was sweltering outside, never mind inside Emily's Sharrow Bay room with 5 or 6 people in it and a massive fan blowing didn't take the temperature down at all!
I was welcomed at the door by Joanne, one of the bridesmaids, in her next-to-nothings, easily dismissed by her shout into the room of: "It's only Dirk, he's seen it all before!". That was because I photographed Aimee's wedding last year and the girls were bridesmaids then too!

It was lovely to see 'the girls' - all friends / fans on my Facebook page. Mum Elizabeth was around and about too, but I headed off to introduce myself to Richie's parents in one of the new lodges in the grounds at Crab Manor, before heading to Bora Bora to catch up with Richie and his best man.
He was pretty cool, well, a few nerves perhaps but his smile lights up a room and he had a steadying wing-man in his best man too ... so all was well.

The twins were on their way to the manor House with Richie's parents as I headed back after taking photographs of the restaurant where the wedding breakfast was to be, they were both excited to see Mum, and their wedding outfits too.. especially their perfect floral headbands - just like mum's from Elise
We had a small drama as Emily was getting her beautiful Justin Alexander gown from Miranda Marie Bridal on when one of the girls got a shock after touching hot hair straighteners.
I was sent out for water and ice and then headed off to let the guests know we would be a little later than expected!
Richie came across to calm one twin down while we got the other one dresses ...  amazing how everyone stayed as calm as they did!
Running 15 minutes late, Emily was ready and looked stunning, Richie was back in his place at the front of the conservatory, and the wedding was back on!
Emily smiled and grinned all the way though the ceremony, taken by their friend and once the reading was done and the rings exchanged, there was applause all round as they kissed and they picked up their young twins for kisses and cuddles ..  How lovely!
The expected dark skies and torrential rain we were expecting was holding off, so all the guests and family had time to relax and enjoy canapes and champagne on the lawn at the Crab & Lobster, listening to Mutton Chops and his wingman as they played their particular brand of music which makes them so popular at weddings at Crab Manor!
A few quick family groups as the skies darkened and a few of the bride and groom then it was over to the restaurant where they hold the speeches outside if the weather is good!
Umbrellas were out just before the end of the best man's speech and we headed inside for our wedding breakfast (thank you folks!). It never stopped raining really for the next 6 hours before I left, oh well!

I spent time working with parents to capture additional images they needed and caught lots of happy people enjoying themselves, and even though there was o first dance, the dance-offs didn't take long to start!
By the time I left, the rain was torrential still, but I made my thanks for friendship and hospitality to Glen and Elizabeth, unfortunately Richie's parents were on babysitting duties and I didn't get a chance to say thank you, but managed a big handshake and a hug with Richie and a big hug and a kiss with Emily as I headed out the door!
It was a great family wedding celebration at a lovely wedding venue, all calm and relaxed allowing me to capture some really nice chilled-out images capturing the true fun and atmosphere of the day - I hope you enjoy them!
