FIRST DANCE?  WHY NOT!
Charlotte and Alex's wedding at Tynemouth was one I had been looking forward to for a long time and what a great time they had during their wedding day!
Perfectly relaxed and beautiful with a great wedding breakfast at one of the nicest restaurants in Newcastle - Blackfriars!
I started off the day wandering around and about Holy Saviours Church Tynemouth to get my bearings - and then headed off to the pub! Alex was meeting with his friends down at the Cumberland Arms at Tynemouth for a pint to settle his nerves, and who can blame him?

I followed the crew back to the church where everything was in full swing, guests arriving, for a few flower details and a shot or two of Alex starting to look nervous!
Charlotte was nervous too, but the great thing for me was that they had selected me to photograph their great wedding because they knew I would keep my distance, capture everything naturally just as it happened without stopping and starting and making them pose un-naturally.
She looked gorgeous when she arrived, and I just knew that Alex would be bowled over when she came down the aisle - and he was!
There was time for a few photographs outside of church in a swirling wind before we walked around the church to where Dreadnought double decker buses were laid on for the journey into central Newcastle to get us to Blackfriars!
Charlotte and Alex and their guests walked a short way to Blackfriars where a marquee was set up on the lawn for champagne and canapes - and Wylam Gold Tankard bitter!
There were lots of relaxed, happy people about and it was a pleasure to be part of such a great relaxed atmosphere, and I managed to grab a few nice photographs of the happy couple chilled and enjoying themselves in the quadrangle as well as a few family groups too before we headed into the restaurant for the grand wedding breakfast at one of the finest restaurants in the north east!
Good food and wine and great speeches and pudding and coffee's and more champagne flowed as the evening wore on with a traditional cutting of the cake and great cheers as Charlotte and Alex stepped onto the tiny dance floor for their first dance!
I could still hear the laughter and the fun as I walked off down to The gate where I had parked my car first thing on the morning - and now it was well past 10pm.
A great wedding celebration for Charlotte and Alex - thanks so much for allowing me to be a small but important part of your day... and I hope you enjoy a sneak peek of the 350+ final edited images which told the story of their day. SEE OTHER REVIEWS AND WEDDING AT TYNEMOUTH .....

NEW!!!!!!! See the sneak peek from Jennifer and Andrew's wedding at Gisborough Hall in September 2010 HERE

I said a few days ago that I was looking forward to Natalie and Andrew's wedding at Gisborough Hall, and so the day came and we had a great time - despite the AWFUL weather!
Gisborough Hall is a fabulous venue for a wedding, and being the longest day of the year, my mind had already worked out about photographs in front of the fantastic backdrop and the beautiful sunlight falling through the leaves of the magnificent copper beech tree in the grounds ..... Hmmm
It was foggy and windy and pouring down most of the day .. so that put paid to that! However, there are plenty of opportunities inside and as great as it would have been to get outside more than we did (about 5 minutes between downpours), I just cracked on and created some great images with the facilities we had.
Natalie was pretty chilled out when I met her in the bridal suite for some early photographs, while Andy appeared to be a little nervous as I met with him and his friends outside the main entrance of Gisborough Hall - just as the flowers were being delivered.
Once the brief ceremony was over, it was time to chill out and have a few drinks and relax! There was no real time for formal photography, but we managed to get outside for less than 5 minutes while it drizzled rain and the local hills were shrouded in mist and fog, before we headed into the wedding breakfast.
There were some great speeches and laughs aloud with everyone very relaxed and happy.
It was a great day for Natalie and Andy - just the sort of day they wanted, no hassle, no stress, just close family and friends having a great day of celebration.
I hope you enjoy my SNEAK PEAK photographs from their day! If you would like me to photograph your wedding naturally with no fuss or hassle, ring me today on 0778 7150966 and CHECK YOUR DATE!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR.......PRE-WEDDING PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHS IN DURHAM WITH NICOLA AND JONATHAN

NICOLA AND JONATHAN ON PREBENDS BRIDGE IN DURHAM CAPTURED BY DIRK VAN DER WERFF
I had fun with Nicola and Jonathan when we finally managed to catch up in Durham over the weekend .....
I'm photographing their wedding in Durham at a church in Lanchester and then on to Van Mildert College in August for their wedding reception - which is where they first met in Jonathan's last year at University.
Ahhh, how romantic!
Jonathan works in Cheltenham and Nicola works in London, but she is originally from Hartlepool.
We walked down to Prebends Bridge, one of their favourite spots and we talked about walking up to the green in front of Durham Cathedral, through the crowds of tourists and shoppers and back down onto the bridge on their wedding day ...... it sounds great fun and should make for some great photographs on their BIG day!
We then walked back to the college and walked around the lake and took some more photographs there too ..... and Jonathan used his beady eyes to spot a heron at the water's edge, and a few minutes later our photography took a break as we watched two tiny Moorhens attack this huge Heron and drive it off to the other side ..... weird, but it made us laugh more and we finished off our photographs there.
I'm really looking forward to their wedding in Durham in August!

WEDDING APPOINTMENTS IN LEEDS, DARLINGTON, NEWCASTLE, AND FOR LONDON BRIDES TOO ......

This is said to be the quiet time of the wedding booking and appointment season ..... but all of a sudden I have six appointments with prospective brides from Leeds, Darlington, London x 2 (both back visiting their native North East), Newcastle and North Shields, with a variety of prospective locations for their weddings ranging from Seaham Hall to Crathorne Hall, Blackfriars Restaurant in Newcastle, Heddon-on-the-Wall to Langley Castle and Lanchester, Durham ... wish me luck!
This weekend I will also be photographing a wedding that I have been looking forward to for a long while.
The wedding is at Gisborough Hall between Natalie and Andrew.
They're a lovely couple and I just know it's going to be a great day whatever the weather - and it's not looking too optimistic at the moment .. Here's a few photographs of a our pre-wedding portrait session we did at Gisborough Hall last Autumn, just after the birth of their first born!
Come back next week and see some of the first photographs from the wedding!

TALL TREES HOTEL YARM WITH BRIDE RACHEL

ONE OF MY MOST FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM RACHEL'S WEDDING AT TALL TREES HOTEL, YARM

YOU CAN SMELL THE CHOCOLATE FROM THIS CAKE!

RACHEL IN HER DIZZY LIZZIE COUTURE DRESS
I was completing the second edit with Rachel's wedding photographs a few days ago and went to see her and her mum yesterday.
They were thrilled with the photographs from the day and we're trying to work out which image will be on the front page of Rachel and Andrew's album.
It's usually a landscape image, and there's some real nice ones of them laughing and gazing into each other's eyes in the church at Yarm, but these are some of my favourite photographs from the day.

WYNYARD HALL - A FANTASTIC NORTH EAST WEDDING VENUE

Wynyard Hall has been awarded four stars as a country house hotel and attracted hundreds of wedding bookings in the two years since it launched as a wedding venue in 2009
It's attracting brides from across the north of England to view the wedding day potential of the family home of Sir John Hall - and of course, previously of Lord Londonderry across many generations.
The Londonderrys entertained royalty, prime ministers, foreign dignitaries, generals, scholars, writers and artists and with a guest list including Charles Dickens, Disraeli, Sir Robert Peel, Churchill, King Edward VII, Elizabeth II and ‘regular’, the Duke of Wellington.
The numerous historic rooms used for different sizes of civil ceremonies offer terrific photographic opportunities - from the Statue Gallery, to The Wellington Room, The Library and the Conservatory.
It is also one of only three locations in the UK that offer their own chapel for traditional wedding ceremonies and the option of civil ceremonies in the same building.
If you are considering your wedding here, I would be honoured to be your chosen photographer for what would be a spectacular wedding!

RACHEL AND ANDREW'S WEDDING AT ST MARY AND ST ROMUALD RC CHURCH YARM AND WEDDING BREAKFAST AT TALL TREES HOTEL YARM STOCKTON-ON-TEES

I travelled to Yarm in Cleveland for Rachel's wedding to Andrew - and what a great day it was too .....
Saturday was awful weather and Monday was pretty bad too, but luckily Sunday was pretty good so Rachel's big day went very well indeed.
I'll post a few images now and get back with some more a little later.....suffice to say that they despatched with normal convention in the evening music department and had a Bon Jovi tribute singer play out for the first dance .. and many more as soon as the girls kicked Andrew off the dance floor and let their hair down!
Fabulous chocolate wedding cake by the way - it filled the room with that chocolate aroma - from Chris Burnett
